Oral Communication Course
Target Public :
Business executives and employees, Canadian civil servants working in the federal and provincial government, individuals.
Course Formats :
- Small-group lessons
- Private or semi-private lessons
Languages Taught :
English (second language), Chinese, Spanish, French (second language), Italian, Japanese, Vietnamese and other languages by request.
Levels Offered :
- Levels 3 and 4: pre-intermediate/intermediate – Objective : basic functional level
- Levels 5 and 6 : advanced intermediate/Advanced – Objective: advanced functional level/ bilingual

Teaching Approach and Contents :
The UQAM Language School’s "Formation en entreprise" has no single Teaching approach for all its clients. Each training program we offer is unique.
To develop oral expression, our team of consultants/instructors employs Teaching techniques that appeal to the creativity and spontaneity of participants. Their communication approach consists of simulating real-life situations using:
- Focused debates;
- Simulated meetings;
- Oral presentations.
This approach allows participants to practise real-life situations encountered in professional life. Vocabulary and grammar are taught within these specific contexts.
Cross-cultural exchange is integrated into all of our courses to give you the tools to understand cultural codes crucial to foreign-language acquisition.
Frequency of Meetings :
For this type of course, 2 classes per week of 1.5 hours each is the recommended schedule. Other scheduling options are open for discussion.
Course Duration :
This is generally determined by the initial level of participants and the objectives they want to achieve. A minimum of 12 hours is mandatory for this course.
From 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. Considerable flexibility to start courses on the date of your choice. Weekend courses are also a possibility. Please contact us.
Courses can be given at the UQAM Language School Centre, or at a location of your choice.
Steps and Follow-up :
Step 1 :
- A needs analysis and self-assessment by each participant
- A placement evaluation (oral and/or written test)
Step 2 :
- Discussion and submission of a course proposal to the personnel in charge of training, or to the individual participant in a non-business context.
- Discussion of composition of groups for evaluation purposes, of objectives to be met, of the frequency of meetings and of course schedule.
Step 3 :
- Start of course
- Two Teaching evaluations, mid-way and at the end of the course
- A regular record of hours completed
- A detailed written report for each participant at the end of each course
- A training certificate and evaluation
